James Ruskin
Point 2

By Tom Magic Feet

Two years on from his debut long-player, James Ruskin returns on the mighty Tresor with a selection of tracks that demonstrate how he's maturing as a producer and continuing to progress beyond the creation of mere DJ tools. There's a greater variety of tempos and rhythms on display than we've previously seen from him: Version, Coda and Subject rage hard enough to blow a hole in reinforced concrete, but Connected, by contrast, wouldn't be out of place in a house club. Yet the standout is From Over The Edge, which is possessed of the grandest vision of all the tracks on Point 2 and hints at just what James might be capable of when he abandons the club format altogether.
