Snog
I Snog Therefore I am

By Richard Wilkes

Purchased purely on the strength of the title this one could have been poor. But what seemed like a gamble came somewhat close to a jackpot, or at least three strawberries: EP price, album length, nice sleeve, excellent music. In this one record you'll find soul singers from cosmic alley, funked-up techno for the lost schizophrenic, dark scapes from Pluto, urgent breakbeat invasions and LFO-style sci-fi crunching. The real art here though is in the reappropriation of familiar samples; a small motif from Herbie Hancock's Raindance forms the basis for a mellow slice of cyber-funk that make you feel like you're trapped on a spacestation in a time loop, but with a smile on your face.
